What is your guilty pleasure? I keep up with the Kardashians. I’m probably less ashamed than I should be.

What did you want to be when you grew up and how did that change you? I wasn’t a morbid child, but I always loved hospitals. They were always clean and organized, and before I was old enough to understand what it meant to be a doctor, the work I observed being done there started to pull at my heartstrings. Something about scrubs is appealing to me too-I still don’t totally get that. In high school, I developed a love for science-the kind of love that makes your heart race and sends adrenaline through your veins. It took me a long time to understand that this in combination for the deep fulfillment I get out of taking care of others makes me the perfect nurse.

What does philanthropy mean to you? Philanthropy isn’t just helping those in need-it’s empathizing with them. We’re all in this crazy journey together, if someone’s in need that should bother us. I am a true believer in people taking care of one another, and philanthropic ventures bring us so much closer to a world where we do just that.
